CG Goes WoW!!!

So the Crimson Guard is officially alive on World of Warcraft. I am playing the warrior Arcades on the Nesingwary server and have already created the Crimson Guard guild. I just need 4 signatures in game to actually enable the guild.

I tried starting up on several servers that were suggested to me but either the name Arcades or the guild name Crimson Guard was taken on those servers... and I definitely wanted to keep both. Hopefully all of you that have started World of Warcraft will transfer or create new characters here so CG can live on.

I chose an Alliance human warrior instead of a paladin... after years of playing a royal, I just want a simple hack and slash class with no fussing with buffs... I did try out a paladin though. It's just not very interesting or even close to "prince-like" as I originally thought. It's more of a fighter/healer hybrid... and I've never been good at healing lol so didn't want the burden of people depending on me to keep 'em alive. I couldn't do it well on Lineage playing a mage... I sure can't do it on WoW with all that goes on during combat.

I know I mentioned before our migration that we would be fighting as Horde... but having researched the classes and races... I'm more comfortable remaining the "good guy". Perhaps it would be different if their were Horde humans... humans can be evil too... o.O

Anyway I'm barely level 10 at this writing... so hope to see some familiar faces soon. Good luck.

So this is the end. I gotta say I keep waking up hoping to find a solution to this problem. Maybe a rollback to before this last update and a switch to 3rd party run servers, but I'm not holding my breath. If I have to start over from scratch then the game has ran it's course for me. Sad... I was 20% away from level 60 legit.

So let me start by saying I have nothing against people from foriegn countries. I've had koreans, japanese, swedish, mexicans, etc in my pledge in the 9 years that I've been running it. At one point my pledge was probably 1/3rd Indian... so yeah I got nothing against anyone. What I do want to point out is the fact that North American Lineage is dead because well... North Americans have been the minority on the server for as long as I can remember. At one point maybe we made up 50% of the server... but we're talking 2002-2003 era here people...

The koreans that played will go back to their overcrowded servers... the same for the Japanese and the Taiwanese. Where do the Australians, the North Americans, the Indians, the Norwegians, the Mexicans go...? Hopefully anywhere but to another NCsoft game.

Lineage was the only game that truly had no end. You didn't reach maximum level and max out your gear in a year or two. You hadn't seen and done it all and probably never would. Lineage was eternal... I will be 36 in August. I started this game when I was 26. I have celebrated every birthday in that time online with my pledge and friends. I have met wonderful people that I will strive to stay connected with long after this game is dead and buried. I had every intention of being here forever. I have often joked that I would be here till the servers burned down... well... that totally hasn't proven to be a lie now has it?

I hope to move to World of Warcraft. Not because I enjoy that game or find it even close to a Lineage experience but because I want to keep my "gang" together and move forward. I want CrimsonGuard to live on... In the coming months this blog as well as our webpage will be archived and switched over to World of Warcraft content.

That being said I would like to thank all the people that have in some small way made my time here a joyful experience.

Like our Valentine's day event I will start sending out pledge letters containing one letter (A, B, C, etc). Save these letters. I will send out different ones all week, sending the last one on Friday October 30th.

Use these letters to unscramble a 3 word phrase and send that phrase to me in an in-game letter after 10pm CST Friday the 30th. The first letter I recieve with the correct answer wins. If I log on and I see multiple winning letters the prize money will be split equally. But once I recieve atleast one correct letter the event is over.

I won't tell you how many letters there will be during the week, but I will tell you when the last letter has been sent. Remember all the letters must be used and spell out a coherent 3 word phrase.

It sounds hard but it's not. Although it will be harder than our Valentines Day one. The answer to that one was "Hugs And Kisses" and it was won by both Netaria and Pheatherwar. Here are the only 2 hints I will give.

I'm sometimes asked why I take virtually anyone into the pledge, even criticized at time it seems. I don't like to exclude anyone. I'm not an elitest. I don't believe that were I level 80 or whatever that I have to limit myself to congregating with people my own level and I run the pledge this way. I'll hunt goblins all night long with you if you're fun to be around, level has nothing to do with it.

Besides I've been here 7+ years now and no one... I'll repeat that NO ONE I've recruited over 50 have stayed for more than a year and some odd months. It's the homegrown 50+'s that are still with me and knowing where they come from I'm proud to say that. I don't want the largest pledge or the strongest, I want the coolest -- and I have that.

Never the less, I found this... it's paraphrased from an ICP song but fits us perfectly I think. Hehe. It should be our recruitment mission statement or something... It's scary. Some of us equals us all.

I wanted to announce that tonight I have canceled my Lineage account. It will allow me to play until November 7th. I can no longer stand the bugs and bots and lack of improvement in this game. Some of you have wonderful conversations with "Monitors" that I'm sure you can recall.

My last 6 deaths have been due to causes beyond my control. Especially annoying are the ones where my character gets stuck in one place and all I can do is pump pots until I die.

Ancient Giant and 'IsI' the Pathetic Bot Farmer

Arcades, Godfathers, BloodOmen and myself had the most perfect timing the other day. We teleported to TOI and found the Ancient Giant right outside the entrance. Many thanks to Godfathers for calling us up for this. Also, I hope he returns back to the game. :(

As you can see below, the drops weren't great. Also many thanks to BloodOmen for the heals and immune spells. My best estimate is that the AG ended in 1-minute, or less! Shows you what 3 52+ melees can do when they are teamed up with a good healer.

In addition to this fun...I've been running into an extremely annoying healbot + melee team in DVC6. The healer is IsI and the melee is Jo0l (2nd 0 is a zero). Whenever you run into a team like this, always attack the mage first. If you attack the melee you will never win because he/she will continue to be healed. The consequences of initiating this kind of action are seen below. I think that's the lowest my law has ever dropped after a single kill. Anyone know what controls the law value after a PK? Hehe. I have no problem going chao on jerks like this. I'd gladly do it again.

2x EXP Event + Some Junk!

2x EXP Event has come and gone... I managed okay, going from level 53 at 54% to level 54 at 15% - total gain of about 61%. I can just imagine how the bots made out. Not only did I get 54, but my brother Seufor got to 50 finally.

The event even ended with a somewhat better than average drop for a change.

This was my first (and failed) attempt at taking a group photo. Took me too long to hit the printscreen button and i missed all the "cheese"s.

My second attempt was worst than the first. Somehow I managed to open the community menu. Almost got us all killed by an ifrit in the process.. lol.

After that, a mob killed DarkenedElf on 30f, TachMan had to leave and it was down to Ani, Katoro, and Myself. Ani venzed when pots ran out. As did Kat. I lasted about 5 more min before a Demon forced me to venz as well.

All in all.. a great time.

Proof that I spend way too much time in the Temple of Shadows...

w00t! Twin Earrings! I took the risk of using 10 fragment of soul stones for another trip to the earring giver without knowing my karma points. I did a rough estimate that I kill about 85 Priest of Chaos per hunt and I probably hunt their on average 5 times per day. My guess at having enough karma for the lvl 2 earrings worked. ;)

Earrings That Make You Shake That Thang

The other day I completed the quest to get Dancing Earrings, which give -1 AC. w00t! The following is a short guide and screenshots of the process.

First off, don't let people tell you that you need 1000 Fragment of Soul Stone and a Head of Chaos and all that exaggerated crap. That quantity of frags and the head is for the charm that allows you to advance to the next (2nd) floor in the Temple of Shadows. From what I've heard, that area is a world of hurt. We're talking Compton during a power outtage. Not sure if anyone on LoA has even made it there yet...although I think it's possible as long as one can purchase all of those items.

What you need is KARMA. What is karma? Hell if I know! But I DO know that you need to hunt Priests of Chaos in the Temple of Shadows (ToS) in order to acquire enough of it. I would estimate that I hunted ToS for about 10-15% experience (lvl 53) solo. Make note of that: solo. I've heard that karma does not split if partied. The other estimates I've heard are that it equates to something like 4,000-6,000 monsters in ToS. The amount of karma per monster probably depends on the type: walking/flying/horse, in that increasing order.

Once you gain enough karma, you speak to the Agent of Varlok in the far top/right corner of the 1st Floor Temple of Shadows. He will speak to you like so:

If you do not have enough karma he'll just say something rude. ;)

If you pay the Agent of Varlok 10 Fragments of Soul Stone he will transport you to the area where you will be rewarded with the earrings. It looks like this:

Speaking to the Lesser Demon, Varlok's Secretary (All that paperwork being a demon!), on the bottom/right will reward you with what he calls an "amulet":

Accept this offer (Take Amulet) and say "w00000000tels!!!":

And now you've got an extra -1 AC!

Lastly, I'm not sure what the easiest way out of Sanctuary of Evil is, but I don't think you can use an escape scroll. Granted, I don't think I really tried to escape. I ran around until I saw something I could start swinging my sword at.

There was an Incarnation of Varlok waiting across a bridge and around a corner. I decided to start chopping at him with my sword. I did and was doing just fine until a Succubus of Varlok joined in the fun. I was whooped and left as a bloodied corpse.

For my own dignity, I did not take a screenshot of this last scene, but I do have one of myself trying to bust-a-cap into a Varlok. :)

Chaos Ensues

A couple screenshots from our run-in with Chaos a few weeks ago. He was pretty difficult, mainly for the fact that he(she?) casts cancel quite a bit. I had to repoly/rebuff a couple of times during the fight.

First: Notice what Kwami does when a powerful boss is on screen (by the name "Chaos" no less!) He has the time to exclaim "OMG" while I'm already swinging my ass off. LOL.

Next: Proof that it really was Chaos. Sorry about the crappy screenshots, but Chaos was sort-of hiding behind a structure.

Last: Chaos ended up dropping 8 Fragments of Soul Stone to Kwami. I got nada. Next time I'm sitting back exclaiming, "OMfG!" Notice the dead knight next to Kwami. 0.0

I moved finally and then spent 2 weeks in the hospital after Congestive Heart Failure. I miss you all... well, most of you. Lol. Anyway I'm maybe 2 weeks at most from returning. I had to relearn to walk... well, actually I'm still at that part >.<
I've lost about 100 lbs and don't smoke now. For how long? Who knows... it's hard. Only bad news I have for you is that I gotta make some changes in my life. I can't spend 24/7 at the keys anymore, I have to regain my health and be more active. I'm way too young to be having these problems. I'll still play, alot actually, 'cause I miss it... just nowhere near the hours and hours I invested before. My brother finally has net now, so he can pick up some of my slack and he should have kept you all updated.
Gimme 2 weeks, I should be back by then.
